Beautiful pictures and my dream was to visit Russia.. guess why I called ma son Mathias lol… but that was a long time ago
Merry Christmas for you and your family
You’re too kind, thanks! The plan is Southeast Asia: Thailand, Laos, Cambodia, Vietnam, Burma, and Bangladesh…I’m going to try my hardest to make it happen!
I remember those halls when I studied there. Brought back some memories.
I like all the pictures of the cold and frost–though I think I prefer looking at them than actually being in the cold.
Wesolych Swiat!
Stumbled across your blog, started reading your posts about Russia, and now commenting on this older entry because – hey! – I recognize those halls. I studied at Smolny during the spring semester of 2009. Your wonderful posts and photos have really brought on the nostalgia and make me wish I could dart back over to Saint Petersburg right now and brush up my now woefully rusty Russian. Looking forward to reading your new entries too!
Nice pictures. Hope to visit Russia some time. But I think the temperature will kill me!
But it’s beautiful in winter!)
Beautiful in winter, beautiful in summer! Cold during winter, hot during summer. Pick your poison!

One of my favorite cities in the world… Sadly, I have yet to see her in the winter. Thank you for sharing this beautiful photos.
Thank you! Indeed, Peter is quite a different city when it’s decorated with trees and lights!
